5W and 34L's, pretty sure I've taken more L's IRL as well and I've been playing Chess for over 8 years.

?

If they have higher ELO than me theres no point playing against them since theyre obviously better and have the ELO to prove it. I save time playing against people who are closer to my ELO and play level

I Thought i get penalties for aborting?

ItsKase

Alright good to know, I dont feel like Ive gotten any better from all the time I’ve spent.

ive been trying puzzles and watching videos of like Daniel Morizofski? Something like that and some of the competitive players like Magnus.

I went to see if I could get a coach but was told they charged $30 per hour so now I’m out of ideas.

The rating floor is capped at 100 here.

I dont want to get worse.

I just know if they're above my ELO level I'm gonna lose because I do every time. (Not talking about the games I resigned)

of course if the elo is higher than you then they must be able to beat you.

...

if that was true, then nobody would improve. To play people higher than you, you should try your best to beat them. if you lose, then whatever! since you were expected to lose anyway!

I had that mentality but I lose EVERYTIME. Like I've spent the last 14 hours just watching videos and trying to apply them to games and it doesnt work.

Playing a stronger opponent teaches you defensive techniques.

Otherwise you will always only be learning attacking techniques.

hmm, I took a look at your games. Seems to me like you should learn some basics, just searching high level or even amateur play won't work, not if you don't know the ideas behind the moves. You should apply some basic opening principles, like control the center (pieces in the center can move anywhere while pieces in the rim cannot have the same amount of mobility), don't move pieces too many times in the opening, castle quickly, and don't bring your queen out early (she's the most valuable piece besides the king!)

Imagine a boxer who only knows how to throw a punch.

richard807

You are that boxer.

richard807
