Can anyone tell me why it's 3 fold repetition, or am I missing something?
The position Rd8 only repeat twice.  Thank you.

The same position is on the board after black moves 42, 44, and 46.

It's reposition of position the moves to get the position don't matter.

The img seems not working, I will just type the moves below, the 42 44 46 moves it said the positions repeat.

40. Ne5+ Kg7
41. Rh1 c4
42. d4 Rd8 (repeat)
43. Kg4 Bb7
44. Kf3 Bc8 (repeat)
45. Nc6 Rf8
46. Ne5 Rd8 (repeat)
1/2-1/2

As long as both have the same castling rights, a pawn has not moved, en passant is not available, and no captures have been made, then every move made is a new first position. You can have numerous first positions, and when a position is duplicated it becomes a second position, and you can have many second positions until a third position is made. When one of the above conditions have changed then all 1st and second position's no longer apply and the first move after becomes the first position of which others are built upon. A position is not about what is moved, it is that every piece on the board is in the same place three times no matter how many moves have been made, or what pieces or moves were made. Think three matching photographs of everything on the board. However, if the board looks exactly the same, it must also be the same person's turn to move in each case, otherwise it is a new first or second position in addition to all first and second positions which are sill in play.

42. d4 (all previous first and second positions no longer apply). Rd8 (The very first position)

43Kg4 (another first position) Bb7 (Another first position)

44.Kf3 (another first position) Bc8 (photos match with 42. ...Rd8 and it is now as then whites turn to move - The second position!)

45. Now if white played Kg4 another second position would have been made and there would be two second positions in play.

45.Nc6 (Another first position) Rf8 (Another first position)

46.Ne5 (Another first position) Rd8 (Photos match with 42. ...Rd8 and 44. ...Rd8 and in all three cases it is whites turn to move. The third repetition!)

It's not the same moves three times in a row, although it can be in the case of perpetual check.

In fact, it's the same position on the board three times, at any point in the game.

so just say i guess it starts with A and then goes B, then A, then B, then A. so A was shown 3 times so it is a draw.

Thanks for everyone explanationhappy, I have attached the jpg, hopefully it can upload
I am playing as Black. The 44 move is Bc8, not Rd8, so Rd8 only repeated twice. I understand 3 fold repetition doesn't need to be in a row (originally I thought both white and black has to be both move exactly the same 3 times)
