can one play too many games?

Yes, some players have attempted to play more than 3,000 games at once. This requires extreme discipline and endurance.
How many are you juggling?

I only wish that I was in that league. Forgive the blunt response but this is a beginner’s forum ergo I’m a beginner. I play about 5 hours each day. Perhaps 5 daily games. And a mixture of 10 & 30 mins. So maybe 10 in total most days. I started playing in January 2020 and only play The London System as I’m (in my mind at least ) too old at 73 to do anything else. Grateful for your comments.

play as well as i can
then spend significant time doing annotations and analysis on the same game
maybe 1 a day (maybe 2 if a game was finished really fast)
more than this just encourages bad habits

@PhillC73, I actually talk about this exact point in this video titled How to Analyze Your Own Chess Games
In the video, I actually discuss a little on how one can actually play "too many games" in chess. I want to make a point clear. To improve in chess, isn't by playing games. To play games is to only see how well you actually play. If you play the same bad moves over and over again, it doesn't matter how many games you play, you will always be stuck at your rating, wondering why you aren't improving.
The more important thing is to take the time after your game, whether you won, drawn, or lost, to see what mistakes you made or mistakes your opponent made and make sure to never make them again. Another thing less said by others, is to see what actually worked, and try to replicate that in the future.
More analysis tips are in the video above. If you have any questions, feel free to ask!
