In fact, point for the OP here. If the OP is inexperienced enough to use a set and pieces without proper colour contrast, that explains why he hung the Q. FOR BEGINNERS .... NEVER use a colour combo you think looks good, without making sure you can see the pieces clearly. That also applies to otb play but more so online.
Can somebody please explain how this move was a blunder?

Just checked and yes, Ronald is telling the truth. Look at the bad colour choice the O.P. made in posting the diagram. In particular, the Nf6 is only semi-visible. A black knight on a black square is why you have to be careful of the colour schemes and always post clear diagrams.
