e4 or d4 doesn't depend on the playing style. Your openings do though. Its so annoying whenever people say that d4 is positional and e4 is tactical. Neither move is inherently tactical or positional. It all depends on what opening you play and what lines inside that opening you play. For example, I play d4 c4 but I play more tactically than I do positionally. Why? Because I chose lines that are tatcical.
