They'll be less evenly matched if players do not play Daily Chess regularly, their rating won't be accurate or usually lower than their playing strength due to being idle.
You can try to play some games from the open seek, join a daily tournament, or join a competitive club to play for official leagues (assuming you do not timeout your games, since these competitions are taken very seriously by team admins).

Hi, so I'm relatively new to playing chess online and my rating reflects that. I have played daily chess twice before, once with a friend and once with a stranger rated much higher than myself. I don't like to have one game drag on for weeks, but I wanted to have another go. On the surface, the other is evenly matched, but their rapid rating is much higher. Is it normal for chess com to have daily chess opponents be less evenly matched? I don't think I would want to have another try at this in the future if there's no hope of me winning. (Also, I'm not talking about this game specifically nor do I want to receive advice on this game. We're not done with it yet. I felt like venting because I find it a tad unfair.)
