Elo going down and down, do I give up

Just started playing online today and I've already lost a ton. Might be joining you soon in giving up lol. Going to keep going though imagine you can get better and hopefully me too.

Don't lose hope. It looks like you need to do some puzzles.
Do puzzles for a few days, and no games.
Get your puzzle rating to 700, then play. I bet you move up the ratings.

700 is too low.
I say shoot for a 3000 puzzles rating and report back.
May be switch from blitz to 15/10 rapid if you do plan on playing.
Dead serious.

Yes, give up.
U know the old saying: If at first u don't succeed... just quit. I think it goes something like that.
But... if u do want to continue and r serious about getting better then definitely play slower games. There's no point in learning new stuff and then playing time controls that r so fast u don't have enough time to think about using the stuff ur learning. So just slow down.

As a beginner myself, I don't really think I'm qualified to advice anything but I'd reckon taking a break does the job if you are stuck. I also had my ups and downs with my elo rating but I just kept doing puzzles and playing 10m rapid till I got to 500(this is after one year lmao) so yeah. I think just take it slow so you will be at your best when you play.

Hi Andy,
I went through some of your games.
In my opinion your chess strength is related to:
1) the speed you move: you are playing 30min games but spend 3min for 15 moves. Play slower, think longer
2) not following the principles: e.g. you try to attack while underdeveloped. Your king has been a target more than once.
3) board visualisation: mpst of my students under 1200 have issues and this issue can be targetted.
4) calculation: it is difficult to calculate, when board visualisation is missing, but you should train things like candidate moves
These are the issues that stand out the most, I have recognised some others, but the mentioned are the most important.
I worked with a lot of students and these weaknesses are very natural and can be solved, if an effective training process is adapted.

Please explain move 4 in this game:

This is a 30 minute game, you have practically all 30 minutes left. Yet you make a move in 8 seconds that throws away a knight. There is nothing subtle about this, you just take a pawn that is protected.
Why? This is something worth thinking about.
Watching any amount of chess videos won't help you if you don't put any thought into the game and just make random legal moves.

Looked at a few of your games. I'm no expert, but running analysis on some of your games might reveal problems.
One easy fix...seems like you hang your queen quite a bit. You leave it sit out in the open and then it gets neglected and taken (i.e. turn 12 below). Just look around the board on every turn. When the opponent moves a piece, look at what they are doing. Keep pieces protected, and get them out of harms way. https://www.chess.com/analysis/game/live/48290379133
Teachers like gotham suggest to not resign. I saw a couple resignations that were still playable. In the game above, you could have taken the enemy queen with your pawn, and would have had equal piece count. I would fight that one to the finish.
Here you are 3 mins into a 60 min game, and you resign with nearly all your pieces on the board. https://www.chess.com/analysis/game/live/47765398609

haha, I've heard something similar. Don't give up. Take two weeks off first, then quit.

yes dont struggle.. quit it.. good for your ego not for your heart tho bro.. struggle harder.. if you are playing 10 games increase to fifteen.. or more.. attend more tournaments.. do everything harder.. might be painful.. but will payoff later

Send me one of your games and I'll be happy to analyze the game for free on my YouTube channel. This is a great way to improve!
Here’s more ideas to help you get better.
-I recommend two books for you: “50 Poison Pieces” and “Queen For A Day: The Girl’s Guide To Chess Mastery.” Both books are available on Amazon.com. Both books are endorsed by chess masters!
-If you are serious about chess, I highly recommend you hiring a chess coach to help you.
-Also consider all checks and captures on your side and also your opponent’s side. Always as, “If I move here, where is my opponent going to move?”. Do this for every single move!
-Play with a slow time control, such as G/30 so you have plenty of time to think before every move.
-Feel free to ask my question on my live chess livestream Youtube channel, every Sunday from 1-2pm PST.
