Emerging Hippo

Looking at the shape of my current daily rating, I'd like to describe it as an emerging hippopotamus.  With cute ears popping above the edge of the water and nostrils at the cusp, it makes me chuckle inside to see it.

But really, it's a struggling Daily game rating graph.  Yep, it's not a hippo.

For a short period, I thought studying was paying off and that trying out tournaments was a good idea.  However, I took on too many games.  Now, I just want the games to be over so I can study again.

And then I feel bad for my opponents, I can only imagine how boring or unusual a game with me must be at the moment.

Then I look at the long list of games, most of them in losing positions.  Thinking the hippo is going to take a dive and I will have a significant loss in rating points.......

Good news is, I think the hippo will emerge again.  Not anytime soon.  But, again, and that is good enough.

***Wondering if anyone else has a rating that looks like an animal? lol

It is nice to play chess and we all want to improve and study, do not be discouraged, I remember the game we played and you were quite good, sometimes we lose because of the desire to move, I recommend you move calmly more than everything and of course study, personally I have been reading a book by roberto grau, the second volume and I also read a line by garry kasparov called how life imitates chess, which although it does not talk much about tactics and specific things, leads you to find out about players from the past and to study them. and well I'm not a chess expert haha but they are a couple of humble tips.

yep, that's true for me on this website

@MarioPetrosian11 Thank you for your encouraging words and good advice...I think I might look into Kasparov's book too, I've been curious about it.  Thanks happy.png

I highly recommend Grau's volume 2 and Kasparov's as I told you, it talks more about other things hahaha the book is interesting, but at times it seems like a self-help and self-improvement book more than chess hahaha but as I told you I rescued you He talks about many great players and that leads one to see games that he mentions, I encourage and hope your chess level improves, remember that the important thing is to have fun, do not stress.

@WhyAyEm Last time we played, I noticed you grew considerably as a player.  Also, I don't know if I'll ever beat you at Blitz.  I guess you're going through something similar though.

My daily graph looks like the totoro cat bus

@KnockKnockItstheFBI Looked up both.  Gotta love the Totoro cat bus grin.png

Okay, I saw your recent rating graph and I chuckled because I see the hippo too. The little peaks are like the ears grin.png

As for my current rating, it is more like a downward cliff...um what kind of animal is that? I'll get it back eventually though lol

Moonwarrior_1

Ah yes I did this a while back and I had to resign… in a bunch… now I only play 1-3 games

chanelno5x

@KeSetoKaiba Thanks lol

Your Rapid rating kind of looks like a Gorilla walking on all fours but we only see the neck to the rear.  Either way, you've got a nice solid rating and it looks like the Gorilla will look up eventually wink.png

Ah, and that is what I've been pondering.  It seems like resigning would be appropriate for many of the games.  Maybe the opponents would prefer that too, especially when some of them have tons of other games going on...I think it's wise that you keep a limit, I'd like to try and stick to a limit too.
