fav chess piece?

Even though it’s far from best, pawn.
@bFoXd
I have to agree. As philidor said "The pawn is the soul of chess." Their importance is greatly underestimated.

the king
(okay, i know the king is a weakling, but he can move in any direction, so bringing him out when he isnt vulnerable to mating nets is good)

Honestly, I have to go with the underrated pawn. They determine how much space you have, help control the center, help let you know where to put your peices, help restrict your opponents plans... You can make your entire game plan based off of them, and the strengths and weaknesses their structure and formation provide. Pawn structures are normally the first things you move in openings, taking a major role in the skirmish for the center, their structures are crucial in middlegames, and if you neglect your pawn's formation, you may end up locking your peices inside, and the noble pawns are, as we all know, of top-most importance in endgames, as they can rush up the board and turn into queens.
Edit: Im sorry for the length. I like writing.

Mine is the Rook. Sure they don't do much for most of the game, but they are honest. And it's nice to keep them in the late game when all your other friends died in combat because of a stupid move you made 15 turns ago. And they are basically bros with the king (letting him pass by them)
Pawns are cool but they're everywhere. Everybody loves the knight but he's way too obvious of a choice. The Bishop is an actual sniper but he's left to have a panic attack when the target is on a different colored square. The queen is also overrated because of sheer power. And the king is self explanatory. The rook just moves. No special gimmicks, he's borderline straightforward and lets everybody know. There needs to be more people in our world who get straight to the point.
