I really like to use the bishop and the queen, but also the rook. Anyway, chess is pretty unpredictable, so we don't really know what we should use to win.

Generally my checkmates are joint efforts, often a Queen-Rook combination. Less often two Rooks working together. I tend to weaken opponents with Knights or Bishops but it is more likely to be the major pieces that achieve checkmate.
