Hi!

First game down, hurray! But did you have fun? How did it compare to online play? What did you like most about it, and what, if anything, threw your off the most?

Hi!

I had a lot of fun. It compared pretty well since the time control was 25+5. I liked just feeling more involved touching and moving the pieces on a board rather than just touching something on a screen. And what threw me off most was having to notate and switch the clock to my opponent. I did pretty well with it (or obviously I wouldn’t have this game) but it was a bit of a challenge at first.

Good game! Pretty solid, with very few bad moves. I'm glad you enjoyed your first exposure to OTB chess. I find it a much more intense and rewarding experience than playing online, sitting alone in a room.

You played excellent! Have fun! OTB is the best thing a human being can experience.

Yeah I didn’t really know what to play other than Bxd6

Congrats! You played really well. Nice work achieving a draw on your first OTB game!

Most people (including myself) lose their first OTB game, so you've done really well.

Don't take this for a fact (I am just a beginner) but I think in the London, it might be a good idea to move the Bishop back to g3 and then you are more than OK if the opponent takes with their Bishop (Bxg3), you just take back with hxg3 and you have an open h-file for your Rook.
