I recommend john Bartholomew's you tube series on chess fundamentals. There are 5 videos in the series. As a beginner, you may lose games to undefended pieces and simple tactics so suggest you practice tactics regularly on chess.com. I do 5 a day and have steadily improved since January. Eventually your brain learn the patterns and you will spot them in your games.

Hi. Welcome to chess. I've been playing 6 months. I found it helpful to recognise and separate out knowledge and skills. Knowledge is things like knowledge of openings, tactics, etc. Skills is calculation, visualisation and positional analysis. Chess fox website has a useful skills model. I found daily tactics puzzles a great way to improve not only tactics knowledge and pattern recognition, but by always calculating and visualisation the moves before moving the piece, these skills are getting much stronger. So as well as all the knowledge, chess improvement requires these fundamental skills so try to Also practice and develop these regularly.
