unless you exclusively play speed chess your blitz rating will always be lower than your rapid. Conclusive answer

Not conclusive

or until your rating gets high enough that no more people around your strength play rapid legitimately

MegaCharizardLeo

I don't really play blitz, I do rapid and bullet. I am better at bullet because I am better at playing fast.

MegaCharizardLeo

To be honest, I'd rather have my rapid better than my bullet.

i tried bullet a couple of times, not my thing, i like to think about situations. Complete disaster. Rapid is more closer to your actual strength?

Rapid's probably the closest rating to a classical rating, so yeah i guess

You say you just came to this site. I take that to mean that you have played chess before, probably vs friends or family, perhaps at school, most likely over the board, perhaps without time controls. You have learned to figure out our move before playing it. This is a good thing. Blitz and bullet games throw this out the window and rely on previous knowledge of the position or first impressions. Also, many players concentrate on traps and tricks to win these speed games. Stick with longer time controls to continue to improve your chess and play fast games just for entertainment. Over the board chess is returning post-pandemic so find someplace to play seriously regularly.

1 and 2 minute bullet is playable with skill + speed. The tricks are there sometimes, and you should look out for them, but all of the dirty playing is mainly in ultrabullet and hyperbullet. If you want to try bullet, start with 2|1 and go to 1|0 when you are confident you're fast enough. Don't try 30 seconds unless you are really good at 1|0 or you're good at tricks. 15 and 10 seconds are a mess.
