fried liver

its funny because black completely messed it up with that pawn move.

In this position a lot of beginners play 3 ... Nc6 not meaning to play the Two Knights Defence and then having to cope with the Fried Liver Attack. There is nothing wrong with being a piece up as Black if the King heads for c7 and Black is prepared to give back the material at the right moment. The jury is still out after nearly 500 years.

Should White play 4. Ng5 or 4. d4? Is it alright to move a piece twice in the opening without a good reason? Is the attack on f7 a good enough reason?
