Game length for playing against live people?

Beginner here.  I've been playing tons of practice games against the computer trying to get good enough to play against humans.  Tried humans for the first time tonight and was dismayed to see the max time limit was only 10 minutes.  That's just not long enough for me to work through a game at this stage of my development.  Are there online games against other players that run longer?  Like, 20 or 30 minutes?  10 minutes feels like a blitz game to me at this early stage.

TIA

Lots of other times available; you just have to jump through a few hoops and may have to wait a little longer for a game.  So instead of clicking Play>Live Chess, Let's try Play>New Game.  That's right, the big orange box at the top,  So immediately you now have choice of a 30 minute game as well.  Now if you fool around with Custom you can also get 15/10.  And you can go full custom, but I don't know how long it takes to find a match.  Or you can play correspondence chess (Daily), and take days to make up your mind.  Have fun!

Daily chess is great if you want to work on your game for as long as you want. You’re given 1 or more days for each move, so you can log in at a regular time each day to play a few moves in each game. A game usually lasts for days, weeks or even months. It’s possible to play several daily games at a time, but I won’t recommend more than 6~8 simultaneous games. Too many games means that you’ll spend less time on each individual game, therefore blunders are more likely.

Take advantage of unlimited Tactics Trainer. For a beginner, improving tactics skill is most important step to Intermediate level.

Feels and is, according to both FIDE and chess.com. Rapid only starts from 10|1.

The tactics and puzzles, drills, etc. are indeed a big help!  I intend to put even more of them into my training after all the recommendations I've received here :-)  It's starting to get a little boring playing against the computer, TBH; it seems to be acting like... well, a computer.  I'm hoping that getting into some online games against players at my lower skill level might force me into some unpredictable situations, make me think outside the box, etc... and really, I think I could learn from playing better players too.  But this 10 minute stuff... aye yay yay!

I played a lot against computer before registered, then quite a few live 30 mins for 6 mos, before started doing lessons and tactics. Only then did my rating go up 150 pts. I find that if quit playing for a week, really need to spend hour+ a day practicing for 3 days before playing anyone, or I drop 100 in rating. If I do that, can still knock back a sixpack and do fine.

Keep at it!

I think best time controls for beginners to learn the game are 15|10 (15 minutes per side + 10 seconds increment for every move) or 30|0 (30 minutes per side, no increment). I know people say that beginners should play as long games as possible, but I feel like anything longer than that you will just spend way too much time playing games that are decided most likely by silly mistakes anyway.

I think that getting a lot of games under your belt is just as important as playing long time controls. Then again anything less than 15 mins per game is just too quick to really have proper time to think through the moves, and it's just playing with intuition that isn't really there yet.

I think I've naturally gravitated toward 30 based on all of my untimed computer games.  I'm usually finishing in under 30 minutes but it's giving me enough time right now to think "oh, this is that lesson I just went over yesterday on how to use interference..." or similar.  In other words, it's giving me time to apply what I'm learning.  I'm sure as I play more I'll recognize situations and apply it faster.  Those 10 minute games left me in panic mode... lots of "what do I do?  I know this I know this but oh God the clock is ticking!" :-) .  I'm sure I'll get there eventually.  Practice and study, practice and study :-)
