I respect your opinion. It's good to put yourself into the shoes of a beginner and understand them. I like your approach in teaching others.

1. He is not "putting himself in the shoes of a beginner." He IS a beginner.

2. The only thing he has to teach on this topic is how to make a complete fool of one's self.

I'm just trying to motivate somebody. Of course, I don't believe that is gonna happen. It's better to just tell a white lie.

ok. sorry. but who are you trying to motivate?

I thought he would be putting in effort based on what he did. But it clearly seemed not if he hasn't start playing yet.

I applaud you for your good intentions, but this guy is hopeless. He fantasizes about being the smartest person in the room, but clearly he is bottom quartile.

This will be taken wrong but this is not to promote my post because after this I won't post on this thread again unless someone makes a post.

But when this thread was started a few people just thought I was trolling because I was on the 7-day trial and I said "Oh no, I'm here to stay and help beginners, just like myself. It is after my 7-day trial "because my Diamond charge just went through" and I'm here.

I'm a good way through puzzles, exercises, a couple books already but about 10 more to go, etc. And one week down and I got A LOT of studying and progress done. Pretty much learned how to use all the tools on chess.com started building my chess.com blog and participated in a couple other forum post.

So with that, letting everyone know that it wasn't just a troll here for 7 days and gone, and hopefully I can contribute to helping others out as I have been helped out by a few people. So, lets all get to getting better at chess!

I didn't think you were trolling. I agree that your initial goal was somewhat unrealistic but you have modified that.

I wish you all the best with your chess and above all, I hope you enjoy it.

I see you have changed your YouTube chess channel to something called 'Cosmic Oracle Insights' and will now be focusing on things like astrology, numerology, and tarot. Does this mean you are done with chess? Are you giving up on becoming a GM in only six months?? I mean you were off to such a great start! You were able to break through the 650 rating level--a full 150 points below Beginner level--in only 5 weeks! How impressive of you. Of course you constantly remind us that you learn differently and much more quickly than the rest of us intellectual peons because you are a 'polymath.' I would hate to see how badly you would have embarrassed yourself if you were more normal instead of the brilliant thinker and learner that you are. But seriously, tarot? That is probably a topic that is much better aligned with your level of intellectual brilliance than chess. So good luck to you in your new endeavor. Hope your newly focused YouTube channel is able, some day in the not too distant future, to break through the 10 subscriber level!!!

Well DLKIII, I answered you in messages because it probably better to keep my answer between you and me.

But yes, I'm still here but for how long? Not sure it. I'm a member on two other sites and chatting with people on there are just much more enjoyable. I made my "GM in 6 months" post on those too, and I gave same answer to why I was wrong in posting it and gave explanation "like I did here"and the responses are just different. The other sites get it and we all laughed and everything was fine. Here, not so much. Seems to be more people under 25 here than the other sites.

Granted I made some great friends here. Two of them are GM's and some are very good players. Even 4 YouTube players. So, that's AWESOME and I'm glad for that.

But well see how long I stick around.

What i have read above is a dream by getting GM title in 6 months by the guidance of Chatgpt.

I would like to know that how chatgpt will answer if you just ask about how to get 1600 rating on chess.com and what steps needed to achieve 1600 rating.

I am waiting for chatgpt steps to get 1600 rating. And I also want learn chess prompts in chatgpt as you declared that you know prompts well.

I am waiting here for complete answer with prompts.

Double facepalm.

True, the guy looked like a fraud from the start, but this is way worse than what I expected.

62-Polymath

Yes, it was changed because it quickly became apparent no one was going to watch someone that was totally new to chess and claiming to be a GM in 6 months "because that's all their stuck on".

So yes, there is no use in having a YouTube channel in a niche were you're not really liked. It was a great idea, at the start, being able to offer a channel, discord and maybe a website were all beginners can be a community and learn from each other but they don't want that.

They want to listen to all the GM's, who basically speak over there heads and never explain anything, you just have to take what they say and hit Google, ChatGPT, books etc to try and find out what the hell they meant when they could have saved you a TON of research time by just explaining what they did, a particular opening, etc.

See, this is one video I had bookmarked from a girl that wanted to see how good she could get at chess in 30 days from a total beginner. Now granted, it's entertainment, and this is what her channel is all about taking a profession, skill, etc and giving it 30 days, etc. Not realistic, but kinda like a reality TV show "because we know "those" are realistic right?"

Anyway, this is what I'm talking about but you can check the video out. It is entertaining at least. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t8IVLOM1fXI

This is misleading.

There is plenty of chess YouTube content that is not like that. I would say that you just didn't look for the right stuff or you just assumed it is like that. That free content can get you started, but after a while, analyzing your own games, and a lot of additional effort is required to go further.

Of course there are a lot of YouTube channels with the aim of entertainment only, and as most people do not want to make the effort of improvement (there is no shame in that, we all have different goals plus our goals can change from month to month), those are the most viewed channels.

62-Polymath

Ok, it didn't take long for someone to message me saying that I could get some GMs to teach me too?

Dude, you're not in reality here. She's a good looking girl, the video looks professionally edited and put together "and probably scripted" and how is someone TOTALLY new to the scene "especially an old man (granted I'm not complaining. I like my 62 years of wisdom) going to get the TOP GM's to do what she did? Absolutely NONE.

Yes, I have some GM friends but none of them are popular YouTubers or interested in being on YouTube. They just love chess and talking about it. And I can talk hours apparently so it's a good match.

Anyway, just wanted to add this real quick because I know others will say the same thing. But this DOES require them reading the post "which they're not going to" to know I've answered this question also now.

Anyway, back to work I go.

Yes, I have watched plenty of YouTube videos and I have spent more time on chess.com in the Analysis tab analyzing games I watched on YouTube. I would record them and make a PGN of there game an import it into the analysis and go through it analyzing, Googling, ChatGPT (understand I pay $20/month for ChatGPT 4) which is much better at chess than the 3.5 FREE version and at even playing chess.

I even have a Github were I post all the PGN files I create of the YouTube games I analyze and watch. I'm always trying to offer help for beginners. I figure sense I'm making the files for my own benefit and have them already better to post them for others to use to help themselves also.

This is why I get new friends because they "politely" ask if I would make a PGN of a particular game they're interested in, and sure because I can analyze it also.

I'm not posting the link because it has been posted in 4 places on chess.com already. If no one can find it them it's that big of a deal for you.

Wow! You have almost as many "GM friends " as you have total YouTube subscribers! You are amazing! And everyone here believes you!

For becoming a GM in 6 month period one should be very lucky because they should be born as 1 of 100000 people or even more with amazing talent for chess. So it cannot be proper goal for the huuuge majority of people in beginners community. I think the better goal (more realistic one) is just - becoming better version of yourself. Not to compare with others and try to conquer the Mount Everest within 1 month when you for example don't have 1 leg, then to set goals appropriate to your level of cognitive/psychological abilities set by only your nature (i.e. person with IQ 100, average visualization ability and average memory... sorry bro. If you bite it and work really hard be happy to reach CM title in a several year period, more you are simply not able to achieve, dot.)

Hope i was clear enough. happy.png

Agreed. Actually not even 1 in 100000 because it's impossible "within 6 months" because of just the amount of tournaments available and getting all your norms all within 6 months "THAT'S" what makes it impossible. Even if someone did have the ability to full and well achieve it within 6 months if there were no restrictions. But thanks for you response.

No disagreements here.

I meant - GM level of strength in the games. GM title - ofc. No way to achieve in so short time.

The biggest issue in almost all ambitious chess players is comparison with others, mostly much more talented then themselves. Its actually very hard to avoid, because chess is competitive game and people ambitious in such kind of sports are usually very competitive in their very nature, so bitter consciousness about your own limits that just dont allow you to go forward is extreeeeeeemely frustrating and could lead to enormous fall in self confidence and acceptance.

Tho, 99% of people have to pass through such phase, bcs they just - lack the talent. To accept yourself with all your strengths and weaknesses is the main course of flow.

To admit to yourself once you realize you cannot advance any further: "Ok, that's the best i achieved, i was working hard and i actually became the best version of myself, that's basically all that matters."

If its FM level - great, i ll get more of rewards and glory then the majority of players, if it's CM level - good, still some glory, but much more fun, if its NO level - ok too, chess is still fun to me, i ll continue to consume it, to fight my battles and to feel that adrenaline, thats something that gives me emotional kind of reward, and if i play it with heart and passion, and self confidence - even the others will recognize it and like me because of that.

And for those who wont, who will laugh... hmf... are they really deserved ANY of my attention?? B.t.w. laughers oftenly laugh even to much stronger titled players, except maybe to Niemann or Hikaru or Magnus, so let them laugh bcs that's all such ppl know, and usually are doing that because they lack self confidence themselves, or they are just psychopath scmbgs so - unimportant enough.
