Hello, everyone

I'm new to chess; I only know how the pieces move. In my first few games, I got checkmated in just 3 or 4 moves. I didn't even realize what was happening - can someone explain it to me?

What is this strategy called, and what do you need to do to execute it when playing Black?
I wasn't able to replicate it.

I cannot see the strategy, but if u have got checkmated in 3 moves, it could be "El Jaque del Pastor" (idk how to say it in english). U can search how to neutralize it and check if this is the strategy, 'cause I'm not sure.

No worries, this is a very common checkmating pattern and attack against beginners!

It goes like this in most games:

The idea is to attack f7 with their queen and their bishop early on to threaten checkmate. You had a similar pattern where they just played the same move order regardless your setup and this unfortunately lead to checkmate because you weren’t careful.

But there is no reason to feel bad, it’s known for beeing effective and you are definitely not the first one to fall for this.

Got it, I'll try to figure out how to counter that. Although, looking at it now, I see that the knight move was a mistake.
Thanks.

Glad it helped!

It is unsound but dangerous to those who do not know how to refute it.

It is related to the so called Wayward Queen attack. A bit of experience and study will teach you haw to play better.

The both are based on exploiting the weak f7 pawn,

Its flaw for White is that the early Queen move leaves Black with strong counterplay as White can gain tempos which are brought about by White neglecting to move their minor pieces to the good squares needed for sound development in the Opening.

Hi. I'm new to and the 3/4 move thing scares me. I stick to puzzles at the moment so I'm open to players wanting to help me to please. I'm only on mobile app so not even sure if I'm commenting on the right bit.

First of try to play some games: This is the most essential thing right now.

Actually, it is an opening trap. It often appears in low-ratings game. What you need to do is to learn these traps.

You can always do some practice or puzzles alongside with your games. That's how I started. =]
