How do I get to 1000 Elo? Any weaknesses I could improve on?

I'm not exactly stuck, but the progress is not that fast. I've been gaining ~40 elo a week, which is not great but at least I'm not stagnating.

More puzzles could not hurt.

To be fair, I am about 1250 in puzzles...

But is that my only weakness you'd point out, or will you point out more weaknesses?

Yes, but puzzle ratings are inflated.

My puzzle rating was close to 2000 before I was 1000 rated in rapid. And now my puzzles are at around 2600 while I'm around 1350 rapid. This seems pretty normal, when I look at peoples rapid vs. puzzle ratings. Maybe I have my puzzles a little higher than usual for my rapid rating, but 1250 is definitely not a very high puzzle rating compared to your rapid rating.

I don't know if I am an experienced enough player to give you other tips or spot weaknesses in your play, but this one I could see by looking at your stats.

What is the standard rate of gain, though?  To me 40 a week seems fair.  At least its heading in the right direction 🙂

Yeah but I'm a player who doesn't really play that often and not paying anything for chess.com.

You could try looking at some of my recent games. Some of them are OK, others are quite trash. But then again I'm only 924 elo and at that elo you still blunder many things and miss simple tactics.

Puzzles helped me a ton, I hover between 1500-1600 puzzle rating at lichess, that allowed me to hover at around 1000 elo here. So, do more puzzles!

My puzzle rating there is about that level.

So what about other weaknesses.

And what other goals could I have for chess, assuming I play semi-regularly (a few times a week or almost every day).

Is my progress actually good, or not good? ~160 elo gained in a month, at my level. Sure looks significant but then again below ~1000 or ~1200 you're blundering a lot of things and missing simple things so it should be easy to progress from below, right?

So far you seem to be progressing at approximately the same phase I did, so I would say you are doing OK.

I have no idea where I am going to reach, but right now, my goal is 1500 rapid, and then eventually 2000, somewhere down the road. And after that, my goal is 100 points more I guess.

You mentioned you are still missing simple tactics sometimes. Well, the puzzles will help with this, although I don't think it will be possible to never miss a tactic. Even the GM's blunder sometimes.

Yeah, but I blunder more than "sometimes" and miss easy tactics.

I made a huge blunder by move 9. From move 1 to move 9 I was holding, although I was slowly slipping. This is one of my worse games.

All the more reason to do more puzzles.

Yes but I'm weaker in some areas (midgame, transition into endgame) than others (e.g. opening).

I can go for the first few moves of openings quickly but after that things get much harder.

Slowing down the game and not repeating mistakes was the difference between 800-1000 for me. It's easy to be sucked into playing a game of speed chess. I'm still guilty of it now and again.

To be fair I play too fast and miss obvious tactics.

Like in https://www.chess.com/game/live/74011244167 at move 13 i missed pawn to f4 even though that was so obvious...
