Odd openings can't really be punished unless they directly do something bad in it (like bongcloud)

I’ve seen this question asked before on here but it didn’t get answer the way I expected. So I’m a new player and have been learning queens gambit declined openings. Imagine they begin with a Tarrasch Defense. 1. d4 d5 2. c4 e6 3. Nc3 c5 4. cxd5 exd5 5. Nf3 Nc6 6. g3 Then something that is odd like … h5. So if my opponent does something odd that I haven’t seen before how can I take advantage of that by punishing, or by adapting to the new move. This question is mainly centered around how to punish an odd move. Thanks!
