How do you get good at puzzles?

Analyse all forcing moves. Any checks should be looked at closely. Look at any undefended pieces.
look for things like x-ray attacks, pins, forks etc. After a while these things jump out at you

Practice: look for checks, captures and threats, in that order. 99% of the ones your doing will be checkmates in 1-3 moves
Firstly you are interested enough to ask the question, so you will get better!
To stat with do 'survival' puzzle rush, so you don't need to worry about time pressure in the 3 or 5 min versions.
As other people have said there is a check list you can create in your mind when you look at a problem -
Look if the enemy king has restricted movement (look at what moves the enemy king has)
Look for checks, even sacrificing your queen is OK it it moves the king to a square it can be checkmated by other pieces.
Look for tactics like forks (can you move a knight or bishops etc to such a square that it threatens two pieces at the same time - your opponent can move one piece to safety, but can't move two pieces!)
There are other ideas, but mostly have fun and review the puzzles you get wrong.

There's not much to really say quite yet, however keep playing games, and using outside sources to improve like mobile chess apps (such as Chesstime). Try to do puzzle rush, and make sure you get in your daily limit every day. Another thing that helps is thinking through your moves.
If you are very serious about chess, you can get one of the premium memberships offered on the site to help you improve faster, get more puzzles, etc.

Do you want some advice from someone who has reached 2800 at puzzles?
I have only one recipe. Think, think, think, think, think. Thinking is the only way to get better at this.
I can spend 30, 50 minutes on one puzzle.

I'm new to chess and I'm no good at them either. But I feel like I have improved a bit the past month.
I tend NOT to do puzzles under any kind of time pressure. Because how can I be fast and good at something I'm still bad and slow at :-).
I just try to do 10 puzzles a day and take my time on those. The rating system gives me the confidence that the puzzle I'm looking at is doable for someone of my low skill level. It's not going be some 5 moves ahead in a complex position thingy; just M2 or winning a queen or other material with 2 or 3 forcing moves.
Puzzles require a basic knowledge of tactical patterns (pins, forks, skewers, etc.), forced moves, and powerful moves (threats). You might struggle if you are not familiar with these basics. They are covered in the lessons section.

It is a lot of just keep doing them. Not so much because of trial and error, but rather as you see more and more puzzles, you will start to recognize the same patterns - common checkmates and tactical themes. As you build up your mental database, the puzzles will get more complicated and you will need to combine themes, but it is all the same building blocks (there's just a lot of them).
I would recommend lessons (Learn botton on left.) but chess.com only give right to one lesson per week unless you have membership. Still you can try beginner/intermediate/advanced lessons for more tactics (The first section will only teach you the rules).

I've tried a few on here and an offline app on my phone and I'm simply awful at them. How do you get better, is it just trial and error or is there a better way?
by doing puzzles -_-

I have no problem with the general puzzles but the daily puzzle really has me confused. I dont know what your supposed to do or what you are trying to achieve. The logic defies me of going from nowhere to nowhere!

That's probably because the daily puzzles are way out of our league, but some day soon :-)

For me, puzzles is all in your thinking process.
First look at all your checks, every one of them.
Then if you don't see a mate look at all your captures.
Try to scan for pieces that you can take by looking at the number of attackers you have and the number of defenders your opponent has.
It's very helpful to understand some basic tactical patterns such as: backrank mate, pin, skewer, removing the defender, overloading etc.
Then look at your threats see if you can attack a piece or threaten checkmate.
However the most important thing is don't get hung up on your target time.
Take as long as you want and be thorough.
