i have been playing online for a month, i choose 30 minutes, click and it starts to search, which gives awesome result, but how does it work? how do people get in my chess match search? because i never received any invite.
Generally: Matchmaking systems accumulate the players who hit the play button within a certain time interval, sort them based on estimated rating, pair them up using rules that might involve how accurate their rating is estimated to be, what kinds of matches their settings say they’re after, and how long they’ve been waiting, then dispatch all the matched games and roll anyone who was unmatched into the next batch. All this happens behind the scenes while the live chess waiting screen is visible.
