Still dont feel I'm good.

Habanababananero

I still think I am bad. So I do not know how many games I will have played, when I feel I am finally good.

But I am pretty sure the amount of games played is not the key to progress. Puzzles, study, analysing games and so forth needs to be done as well as playing…

Probably after a ballpark of 10.

I had better feel for flow of the game and understood opponent attack tactics much better.

I also learned what mistakes to avoid after getting manhandled hard by some of my blunders.

I realized I was good, but that's how impressive the chess scene is... there are a lot of good players and even more amazingly great players in which merely being good will be difficult to nab a checkmate win.

its an unrelated note, but the competitive scene keeps me going~

Nobody can give a number that you just take and use. What is good? A rating? Do you study chess? Do you look at the games you lost and find out your mistakes? Somebody who does those things will progress faster than those who don't.

I'll let you know if I ever feel that way

I've played over a thousand games and still feel like a beginner. It's definitely relative to the individual.

Because I struggled to get to 900 I decided to stop playing actual live games with opponents on here for a year...and do 30 minutes study every day. That came in the form of various ways....puzzles...bots...youtube etc etc. My year is nearly up and I feel my chess will have improved. I doubt I'll consider myself good...but I sure hope I'm better.

I played more than 50 000 games and still can't play. meh.png

After 10,000 i have started to feel that I am a fairly strong player for an amateur.

But definitely not "good".

Maybe I will feel like "good" after 30,000 games and my rapid rating reaches 1800 (blitz reaches 1700).

MaetsNori

"Good" is a moving target that'll always be 200 points higher than whatever you are ... Forever out of reach, like trying to chase the horizon ...

After around 9500 games (excluding OTB tournament games, which are about 5000 total), I still feel like a noob ngl, it really comes down to the moment when you either start your online match or sit down to play against your opponent.
