lol
First, you buy a bunch of books on all phases of the game and never read them.
Okay, so you dabble a bit into them but are undisciplined and won't invest the time.

sounds like so much fun!
The OP suggests brilliant advice. At the same time, he shames world-famous chess masters for dedicating their entire life to chess when they could have just followed his tips.
9/10. Your trolling career is looking rather bright, and as a world-renowned troll, I don't say that very often.
@TeacherOfPain
Why are you being so serious on a thread where the behavior of posters is clearly intended to be the opposite by the OP?
Tbh, only read one chess book in my life by accident X_x.
I played the French once because of a mouse slip, then a second time after I was annihilated 20 or more times by a guy who isn't much higher rated than me but still knows enough about basic chess principles to just rip me a new one and also see a lot of things I don't see. Don't just go by ratings here on chess.com. I always knew the French Players are the best players. I don't think the Caro-Kan is superior just because they can trade off the light-squared bishop easier. After facing French players time and time again, they just are better players. They can also play the Sicilian. They just choose not too. Not because they "memorized" moves, but because they are applying basic principles of chess. It's easy to wing an opening if you know what you are doing. I just lost a game because my opponent counted and I did. I can count. 1, 2, 3, but because I play blitz predominately I rely more on patterns rather than counting, which is another problem I developed by playing mostly only blitz.
Books may not be necessary, but they can help, and so could a coach, in my opinion. One just can't buy a bunch of books and hopes that memorizing what is on the pages will help them because it won't. What helps them, is reading the book, taking notes, and drawing an outline of the concepts and topics being discussed.

Maybe you find a friend and study books together. It is lots of fun and learning
I'll ask.

Troll is just a name people give to people who have no clue that the whole post is based on a joke, most of the time...
Sounds like a better plan than that guy who tried to beat Magnus Carlsen after 1 month of learning chess.
That was the funniest thing i have ever seen.
