i wonder how to get elo fast in rapid 15 min?

Yao_Wang
I’m going to be real with you here, don’t play 15 minute rapid if you want to gain elo fast (in my personal opinion because it is a slower time control)

you dont cry

play 10|0

MrMinecraftBlupBLup

Play 10/10.

It makes your opponent fell like they have less time and therefore they make blunders.

Im saying this because i ONLY play 10/10, not blitz or bullet or anything

GMegasDoux

10/10 is a great time frame to play. But I often find the match ups to take longer, likely fewer playing it. However, you have loads more time playing with an increment. Best way to gain Elo is blunder check both you and your oponent each move. Simple as that. If you are in better positions you win more often. The more you win the more your Elo goes up. Also, in this time control you gain 1 minute 40 seconds every ten moves played. Get to 40 moves your time is more than 16 minutes 40 for the game to be played so far. So, it is much better than 15/0 games.

ignore these people, you won't get elo up by playing quick. you need to read chess, study openings, play daily games with plenty of time to think,.

Play 10/0 and get your rating which represent your actual strength. Be better rating - study chess.

1. If you want to improve at chess, stop playing in smaller time controls (eg. 3 min or 5 min blitz). Play them only for fun.

2. To increase your elo, try learning 1 opening for both the colours. I learnt the Vienna game for white. There's this variation called Vienna gambit. At lower levels most of the opponent you face are going to play the accepted version, and then they'll lose. It'll be way easy for you to win if you know the main lines. I came from 450 to 850 elo here on chess.com by learning this opening alone. You may hesitate to learn this opening, as it is not that popular, but trust me, it'll skyrocket your elo. For black, i've recently started learning the caro-kann defence. Its a really solid opening for black, but i have not played it that much yet so i can't tell much about it.

3. Last and the most important thing, avoid tilting. Set a goal that you are not going to play more than 2-3 games a day (according to your wish) regardless of the result in each game (whether you lose or win). This honestly helped me alot.

i hope this helps you, best of luck happythumbup

Have a high win rate and your elo will quickly go up

No one has mentioned the most important thing yet.

Don't just play random moves without thinking.

Use your time and think. Don't play random moves.Try to find good moves.

Learn exactly how to think in the opening, middlegame and endgame — this is what I teach.
Always blunder-check your moves.
Solve tactics in the right way.
Analyze your games.
Study games of strong players.
Learn how to be more psychologically resilient.
Work on your time management skills.
Get a coach if you can.

I agree with shatranjknights about not getting tilted. I don't think I'm a sore loser, but sometimes in the past if I lost a few games in a row, I would get determined to win the elo points back, so I would play again. I didn't stop to think that I'm tired and burned out, so I would play sloppily and lose again. Just recently I set a limit of how many games I play consecutively. I think I'm doing better. Time will tell.

MaestroDelAjedrez2025

You must play e4 or d4 when you're white

Just try to get better and grind games. I usually do 10 minutes to save time. But elo always takes time.
