How to improve as a beginner?

Sort:

So I never really played chess as a kid, I just learned the moves sometime when I was 7 or 8 and played once in awhile during rainy days at school and usually lost. I recently picked up the game again but I'm absolutely terrible https://showbox.tools/  and have been losing countless games on facebook. Right now I'm reading two books, "Secrets of the Russian Grandmasters" and "Chess: The Logical Art of Thinking" because they were the two books I found in the library that I felt I could best follow along with. Any recommendations on what sites, book or other resources I should be looking into?

Chess books may or may not help you. What will help you is learning the chess fundamental principles of openings, endgames, and tactical motifs, then trying to find those tactical motifs via puzzles and playing games and reviewing them for mistakes afterwards. Other players can give you ideas or explanations on why certain moves are mistakes if you’re ever confused. Have a great chess adventure!
