How to improve in Chess

  1. Analyze your games. This will help you find mistakes in your game so you can fix them
  2. Do puzzles/tactics. Don't worry about your puzzle rating as long as you strive for accuracy and take your time to solve the puzzles
  3. Study the game. What I like to do is download chess books and while I read them, I create a study on Lichess. I don't put every single thing into the study but what I would find useful or relevant. Here are my French and Queen's Gambit studies for reference. Although studying openings is OK, you should study the middle game and endgame.
  4. Get a coach. A coach will be more personal and help you find mistakes in your game. If you have the time and resources for a coach you should try to get one. BlakeyBChess on chess.com is a NM who has a website to coach other players on ChessPathways. Compared to most coaches, he offers a relatively low price and offers a lot in return. Of course, there are other coaches out there but he guarantees more to you.
