how to improve my game
My advice (as a chess coach and 2100+ player):
Learn and apply the most important principles of chess.
Always blunder-check your moves.
Solve tactics in the right way.
Analyze your games.
Study games of strong players.
Learn how to be more psychologically resilient.
Work on your time management skills.
Get a coach if you can.
It's great that you’re getting back into chess! If you're looking to take your game to the next level, you should check out ChessMood. Thanks for the advice, I’ll try it out
Recently, I was stuck at 200-230 when a 1500 rated acquaintance of mine suggested playing longer games (10 minutes at the shortest) to give myself more room to think and strategize while playing. Following his advice, I doubled in rating in less than two weeks, going from 200 to 400+ and have been on a slow incline every since (and that's playing only fifteen to twenty games a week). I'm definitely no expert, but I'm really thankful for the advice given to me!
Good luck!
