1. Play rapid, not blitz. I suggest 15/10 time control.
2. Don't play people with 500 more rating than you (lol).
3. Think about each move before you play it.
4. Watch videos and read books about beginner chess strategy.
5. Do puzzles. You can make an account on lichess.org for free puzzles, or you can find them on other sites.

I did really badly but not 100% sure where it all went wrong? I was attempting to develop pieces before taking in the center but that went poorly
