I have an Easy cure of chess fear. But maybe people not interested. it worked for me.

Go ahead.

Just think of COVID-19 that can kill us anytime. Then instantly your chess fear is gone.

I'm more worried about dying due tothe fear of getting COVID than dying due to the actual getting of COVID itself...

Wow.

Does Capablanca mean...

...that a player who loses hundreds of games, without a single win or draw in his games, will become a good player?

no. he means you have to be a masochist.

Fact.

The death rate is around 3%, not 0,03%. I don't know about chess, but I think it's lower..

Considering that losing is not gonna hurt you, if I were you I would keep playing until you have a decent board vision. Don't care about the losses, they're irrelevant in the long run and you can only improve from them.

what helped me as someone who used to be scared to play people -- just stuck to the many CPUs chess.com gives you -- is that the rating on here doesn't really mean all that much. Its just a way of pairing you up with people who the website assumes is around your skill level so it won't be too hard or too easy. It also isn't official in any regards. Here is why you shouldn't worry about rating on here, or any chess website

1. people in rapid and even slower blitz controls like 5|5 cheat... its something like 15% of all players , and thats just those that chess.com, lichess, and other websites know about... imagine the people that only pull out the engine on their phone when they are losing, or to help them on a couple really pivotal moves.

2. Real rating comes from structured play that is officially carried out by FIDE, USCF, or whatever other organization/chess federation exists if you aren't American. Whatever you think your rating is based on chess.com, is probably much different in real life. Not to be a downer, but its probably lower than your chess.com rating. if it makes you feel better, its lower for everybody: even the GMs on here.

3. rating is really just a number. Learning and getting better at understanding chess, and enjoying the wins you get from your hard work and learning are what its really all about. You have to decide what you want: a high rating or a better understanding of chess. The funny thing is, if you strive to achieve the second one, the former comes along very conveniently with it.

What are you scared of? Are you in some kind of physical danger?

Hi! My name is Lauren Goodkind and I’m a respected  chess coach and chess YouTuber based in California:

https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCP5SPSG_sWSYPjqJYMNwL_Q

I love helping others get better at chess.  Therefore, here’s some ideas to help you get better.

-I recommend two books for you: “50 Poison Pieces”   and “Queen For A Day: The Girl’s Guide To Chess Mastery.”  Both books are available on Amazon.com.  Both books are endorsed by chess masters!

-If you are serious about chess, I highly recommend you hiring a chess coach to help you.

-Also consider all checks and captures on your side and also your opponent’s side. Always as, “If I move here, where is my opponent going to move?”. Do this for every single move!

-Play with a slow time control, such as G/30 so you have plenty of time to think before every move.

I also offer 500 two-choice puzzles on my website: https://www.chessbylauren.com/two-choice-puzzles.php

If you want me to analyze a chess game that you played for my YouTube channel (free of charge), share the game with me.

I hope that this helps.

Try daily games.  This way, you can strategize, look for basic tactics and enjoy/learn without undue pressure.

The chess fear is real and quite understandable. Most of the time when I start a game I think to myself, "I don't want to do this. Why am I doing this?" But soon I'm lost in the puzzle of it. Solving problems, in other words, and not the kind out there, like COVID.

Most likely you haven't hit your true rating yet, and so you'll keep losing. It's all right. Even when you're at the correct level, you'll still lose about half the time.

Probably the best thing to fear is missing out on a fascinating hobby.
