Is there any way of getting over a losing streak?

I think I'll take a long break before playing chess but even after I do, I'll still lose. And I don't like losing. I understand it's part of the game but it just doesn't feel great.

After losing, do you guys go to the analysis every game? I'm getting my butt kicked very rarely do any of my ideas work anymore. I can't really follow the ideas of the analysis sometimes. The analysis is like, "mate in 15." But of course I don't see it. I know I suck, half the time I miss mate in one because I'm nervous or I'm short on time.

Some say play longer time game like rapid, but those games are even harder.

What do you guys do when you're on a losing streak.

You are an 1100 in 3 minute blitz. You don't need to see mate in 15. You need to see hanging queens.

In your last 90 days, you left your queen hanging 86 times:

Everyone makes mistakes and hangs pieces from time to time. But we can work on those things.

You need to play longer time controls and during those games you need to regularly blunder check and make that a habit. I’ll put this blog to give you more info.

Go here in this blog and check what you may be looking for and I’ll be updating this when I get the chance to. It may say unfinished, but that’s just a technical issue. Read this only for those people who know I am on ios I managed to make this because in a club I found a blog link and I clicked and I found the option to make a blog.

Taking breaks is the key, takena break of 2 days, or 7 days, dont do puzzles, watch chess videos untill you reach the final day, when you will play chess, keep your brain relax chess is somewhat easy that way ;)

Hey chess friend!

Yes, I review every game, win or lose. All my games are either streamed on twitch or recorded for youtube, so it's kind of part of the routine and format I've decided on. Plus, we learn the most from the losses, even if it doesn't feel great.

In the past I would play dozens of games of blitz each day. But it made me hate chess - I'd get really upset with myself and I would spiral into a depression. Now I play blitz one day a week, and on stream, which forces me to be in a better mindset.

Focusing more on rapid helped me. I also got a coach. But if those things aren't for you, I'd just say try to walk away after 3 losses in a row. So much of your ability to see things and create plans is based on your mood. So if your mood tanks, then you aren't going to be seeing things, you'll lose more games, wonder how all your opponents are so good, and probably start beating yourself up.

Fun fact: TrufflesNilano has won the last 10 games.

That's quite an unusual losing streak.

In my experience, the fastest way to get over a losing streak is to just win a game. Try that first, then come see me for more great advice

Sorry but I couldn't resist the humor. Now for real:

I suck at chess too, even though I study and do puzzles 90% to playing 10%. However, in my actual experience, losing streaks always end because chesscom continues to match you with weaker and weaker opponents until you have the obvious advantage.

Imagine you are playing at your 'actual' level and just have a bad run...perhaps your mind isn't in the game, or you are extra-irritable and it causes you to tilt and make blunders. You lose 8 or 10 in a row. When you come back, emotionally stable, and play again, you will be playing against player -100 elo. You will likely win the next several games, or at least several of the next several games. It's ok.

4+ years of speed chess and you cant figure out why youre not improving?

The way to end a losing streak is to become a better chessplayer and win.

You are grinding 3-minute blitz games. How can a 1200 player improve doing that? You are correct in that reviewing your games will not be very helpful because your games are largely decided by random errors—and there is nothing to learn from that.

I’m so bad at chess. I absolutely suck. And I hate it. I just play play and play, do lessons, read books, and try and apply that, but nothing helps. It’s so annoying, but I don’t let it affect my sportsmanship.

You could bring Bobby Fischer back from the dead. Team him up with Karpov, Kasparov and Carlsen and pay them each $1 Billion a piece for lessons and they will not be able to help you until you stop playing speed chess. Yes its a hard and bitter truth but it is the truth. How can you possibly expect to improve when all you do is move fast.
