Memorizing openings is probably the worst idea you can have. Any other chess.related activity is more useful.

Oh it’s just something I would see them talking about at the beginning of games and thought it would be interesting. I just always saw these pros talking about lines which I assume were openings. Any tips for beginners’ cause I have no idea what one doing 😩

You should google "chess opening principles". Try to internalize those, they are easy to learn and very useful.

Also is there any other resource y’all know of that would help me elevate my game from simply reacting to what I see into setting active traps? That’s what I’m really interested in
