Is this a bad start?

Hi! My name is Lauren Goodkind and I'm a chess coach based in California: www.ChessByLauren.com.
Never play f3 on the first move since it exposes the king's diagonal.
On the first move, play e4 or d4 to control the center!

Hi,
Two of the most fundamental opening chess principles are to:
- Control the centre
- Develop all your pieces
With that said, moves like e4 and d4 are great, because they occupy and control the centre, and open up your pieces for development. A move like f3, on the other hand, isn't really developing anything, and blocks your Knight from going to f3.
Hope this helps!

If i'm starting as white i play f3 and then counter whatever they do. Is this a good play?
