Time is an important element of a chess game, and time management is a skill as important as any other to master, to be successful. That said you need to be able to take enough but not too much to fall behind on the clock. And that could be very hard when starting to learn the game. What helped me greatly was this youtube series. It's for people who know the rules, but don't really know what and how to play. Watch here https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL8N8j2e7RpPnpqbISqi1SJ9_wrnNU3rEm
There is a shorter version on their main channel, here's the video for Elo 0-500 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=axRvksIZpGc but I recommend watching all the videos 1-8 from the first playlist, It's a lot, but it's well worth it and you'll learn a great deal from it.
Good luck
Yes, I lose every chess game I've played. I even had someone ask if I was sandbagging my score of 100. And while I've looked at a few articles about how to unique techniques, moves, etc. I realized something so simple.
I'm just impatient. Even with a 20 min timer, I try to make my move as quickly as possible so I don't waste the timer and the game feels a bit more fast-paced. It's obviously not working. All I'm trying to say is take your time, understand the consequences of your moves, and as you keep practicing you'll then be able to speed up your processing skills.
Don't be relegated to a timer.
