London system 1.d4 e5; 2. ??

it isnt great but you need to know what you are doing
in general, when opponent gambits like this i will take the initial offering and decline everything else
i suppose you could play 2. c3 but it is a little passive
just peek at englund gambit lines since, as a 1.d4 player you will run into it (and if messed up white can be in a world of hurt)
the problem with both 1.d4 e5 and 1.d4 c5 is that they prevent the London. e5 in particular is very forcing and can be annoying, especially because of the lines. I'm currently in a non 1.d4 phase, because even when I'm not a London player, I'm not willing to play against the Englund. it doesn't matter if it's objectively bad for black, I just don't want to deal with it.

That mindset is frankly just bizarre lol. You should welcome it.
Well, if you play 1.d4 to play your beloved London (or any other such system) and the opponent prevents that, it becomes boring after a while. At beginner levels, stupid objectionable gambits become popular because of streamers and then you can't play chess the way you want. How is that so bizarre?
1 d4 e5 is one of the cases where you have to know specifics as the only way to punish black is to be greedy. there are a few lines where you can give the pawn back and still have a large advantage just because your pieces will be better placed, but for the most part you have to take material and also try to assume the initiative, even attack the king when given the opportunity.
there's a lot of tactical fireworks in white's favor in the qe7-b4+ lines so you should have a lot of fun even if you don't win the first few games.
with 2 dxe5 d6 i prefer transposing to the open games if black wants it so i play 3 nf3 and e4 later. taking on d6 is possible but gives black an easier game. either way you have to dig for yourself. but you should be rewarded with wins 1..e5 is not really good. the only virtue i see is it is complicated and white's path to a large advantage is difficult to find over the board.

Usually accept, but don't try to hang on to it. This is the most common trap.
4.Bf4 isn't a mistake, it's the main way of meeting the Eunglund. After 6.Nc3 black never equalizes.
