For my fellow beginners out there: you should use this opening as it’s op at your level

If you want everyone to hate you, play the London lol

In the game given, black's Na5 is a horrible blunder, white has mate-in-2. Instead, white plays Qb4 (another horrible blunder), after which black can trade queens and win a piece. Instead, black blunders again and white wins.

The opening had nothing to do with the outcome of the game.

By not caring about what you say, anyway how are you managing getting to 1000 rating?

Yeah I agree the London is boring, but if you want play more regular opening moves to make it kind of a combo of several openings, you’ll probably confuse your opponent while still having a good position, also about the queen blunder, for some reason that always happens and I’m unsure why

People complain about the london, about how it stunts development, blah blah blah. But if it gets you wins then use it.

LOL I don't think the objective of chess is to play an opening that is loved by your opponents.

It can help beginners to a certain extent. Some benefit include allowing beginners to:

- Not hang their queen (and other pieces) in the first 10. moves

- Not create a crazy weakness in the opening

- Have a very solid and annoying structure that will cause opponents to overextend

- Easy to learn opening, won't take away too much time from studying other things

Other benefits:

- Opponents at the beginner level won't play the most annoying ways against it.

- Once you get stronger just switch to the jobava london

- Many videos about it

Downsides:

- Black can equalize easily against it with correct play

- Quite boring

- Less tactical opportunities at the earlier stages of the game, if london plyers don't learn their opening tactics then switching to other openings or facing some transposition could be devastating

- Beginners blaming the London system for a potential lack of progress (becuaase masters say it's boring)

I think beginners can totally learn the London! Just don't play it against your real friends! (they will hate you for it)

You can also play e4 and stick to principles, a four knights game (probably) on't lose in 4 moves if it's played by beginners (there is also a four knight's game course on chess.com for free)

Plus, if you don't like the london then you can switch to to other annoying openings like the stonewall which still have cons, but beginners still won't punish that and it has some more attacking potential than most London lines. the experience against other replies to d5 will allow you to switch around your d4 d5 opening.

If you want options to switch to after you think you are done with the london, they could include:

- The Jobava London

- The Catalan Opening

- The Queen's Gambit

- The Blackmar-Diemer Gambit (Objectively not very good)

I hope this changes your opinion on the London system! While I don't use it myself, many great players have and it definitely deserves less hate and more respect than it's reputation makes most think. (Be honest, you hate playing against it as black even if you objectively equalized)

I understand where you are coming from, (What even is Qe7?) But this post is advising beginners to play it, you should expect nonsense like Qe7 showing up in their games until they improve!

No, I like playing against the Caro-Kann. It's a good opening.

For a 300 player the choice of opening has literally nothing to do with the result.

ik but if my opponents don’t blunder in the first 20 moves I still probably have a lead in development.

btw I started to get into the Queen’s Gambit a bit, I still need to know how to counter the Slav Defense tho.
