Lost 100+ Elo

I've lost over 100 elo. This has made me lose motivation and makes me wanna quit chess.

Does anyone know the reason this could be happening?

The reason could be that you are not in practice for a long time which makes you forget concepts.
The one I find most reasonable is that you are playing too much chess which makes you lose concentration and you get in a kind of aggressive form in which you will most likely lose. You also don’t get the same thrill when playing. Try getting some fresh air.
Another could be personal problems and the reason is obvious. One more problem could be that you are changing your playing style and not adjusting your time properly. But before playing chess I must advise you, since you said you lost motivation, you need to get some motivation. Think of chess as a game which interests you, even if you lose you are still getting to enjoy the thrill of a game. Try watching some long videos about chess. One YouTube channel I recommend is chess vibes. Specifically the channel’s rating climb videos. Also try playing longer games and take at least one or two minutes before you play a move.

Hope this helps

Sleep, stress, diet, relationships — they all affect focus and decision-making.

Tilts happen a lot I tried going for 1900 bullet four times and in my first three tries I lost around 100 to 200 elo each time the worst one dropped me from 1849 to 1597 the best thing to do is take a break notice your mistakes try to improve and come back again

It’s completely normal to have 100-200 drops in rating points. Everybody has good days and bad days, look at title players, there’s a large swings. You have to look at it as you’re going up in strength, but you don’t have all of these skills to consistently stay at that rating yet. If you stayed at that rating for a long time, and you suddenly lost some rating points, that’s a good sign more than ever to study more and play less.

I like that perspective!

A 100-point swing is normal. If you have an accurate rating, it is typical to vary by +/- 100 points.

If you flip a fair coin 500 times, you will see runs in which heads outnumber tails (or vice versa) by 8 or more. If you play someone at your skill level 500 times (and so the probability of winning is 50 percent), you should similarly expect to see runs in which one player is ahead by at least 8 games. With each game worth 8 points, a swing of +/- 64 points is typical. And if you play more than 500 games, play players rated higher/lower than you, and have other factors such as distractions affect your play, then you should expect to see larger swings.
