My opponent presses (literally bangs) the clock hard in a Blitz Game

Hi.

I've recently been attending a chess club meet-up where most people play blitz games. One of my opponents was unconsciously banging the clock really hard. I told him that the noise was disturbing me. He got all offended and told me that if this were a tournament, he would complain to the referee that I was somehow interfering (distracting him) in his play. Who is right: can I claim that he's disturbing me by banging on the clock, or is my opponent allowed to go on?

I guess we would have to see and hear it. One man's banging is not the same as another's.

What did the others playing nearby say?

There are clock-bangers, and pencil tappers and piece screwers and all sorts of things that can bother you if you let them.  Don't waste the time to worry about them.
