Example 1: - The Counter File-Attack - He's attacking in the file? you attack there too - but a little later.
Okay? Sometimes you can let an opponent attack in the file with his queen - threatening a minor piece, because you have better devil-op-ment, and can catch his queen.
(you need to make sure he can't retreat his queen diagonally, like to b4, guarding the rook - if he can, you just lost a piece)

[off topic - in the opening, I played French Defense - easy for Black, and opponent wanted to divert from main line, so I transposed into the Sicilian Kan - which is also, easy for Black, but much more dynamic, and much less solid]
