Pablo Bot Defeated

Well Pablo bot gave me a challenge for a few days. After playing him I know I need to do some research on gambits. I don't know how many tries it took, definitely more than a few. However, I never lost badly. It was usually a bad endgame or a drawn game. I almost feel I play better against bots than I do against people. At the moment, I've decided to take a break from playing rated games as I've finally cracked the 600 rating and would like to shore up my knowledge of tactics and gambits before I continue on.

For Pablo bot I maintained my defense first mindset and knowing when to retreat pieces to safety when neccessary. Both fairly new concepts for me that have helped improve my game. I'm quite proud of the stats and will continue to post on the bots as I move through them.

In the meantime, any advice on how not to lose my focus when playing people online would be wonderful. I just get nervous and I think it has something to do with the possibility of losing ratings points. I probably put too much stock in that but I absolutely want to improve and get my rating to 1000 by February. I've said it before, I'll say it again: I love this game.

Good vibes to all of you

Glad you are enjoying playing so much, like you I’ve recently managed to beat Pablo after about 30 serious attempts. Felt great 👍

Pablo Bot is tricky!!! Below is a game I played against Pablo where he plays Scandinavian Defense.
