playing against people for a while. I lost 68 ELO points over the last 12 hours and I'm just completely discouraged. I was creeping up on 900 and now I got knocked back by people who are clearly better than their ratings indicate. I figure I'll just watch YouTube videos and read about openings and defenses for a few weeks/months. But I'm definitely not feeling like I want to play anyone again anytime soon. I feel like an absolute moron. Anyway, I hope Chess treats y'all better than it has me. Good luck.
Taking a break is a way to deal with frustration in chess. I guess you should invest some time in your game, without playing. Chessable is very good to work in a structured way. They have a new feature there where the website will create a course based on your online games (chess.com and lichess). Think on your losses as an opportunity to find blind spots in your tactical skills. You can also learn there a free book called Basic Endgames, and there are plenty of free opening courses (called Sweet & Short). I also stopped playing here, I am just finishing my Daily Games from 3 tournaments. I am using the time to improve my game.
By the way, the forum here can be very toxic. The forum in Chessable is much more interesting. We have a lot of decent people here, but many will just avoid the forum because the level can be very low.
Good luck and perhaps we will see in Chessable (my nickname there is Torrubirubi).
Someone Created an account for an hour just to do that lol
