i remember these kinds of games
developed well enough
castled
you said you spent a lot of clock and i can see why- not a glaring weakness to exploit
just looking quickly when you castled you might have tried to open up position asap w/ d5 push- black wasnt castled yet and wasted some moves with g6 and b6
but neither side was “in danger” but, as white (or even as black if white is slow to develop) you need to start getting your center into play
after you developed and castled you tried moving your queenside pawns; this is usually what happens to me when i dont know what to do next instead of focusing on central domination/control
i didnt watch too much after that; i would guess that black was able to get his pieces in the game and, eventually- after time trouble, you made some blunders
what were your own impressions?
thx for your reaction, my point of view was most of not knowing what to do, especially at the end, i wanted to defend my pawns and couldnt find any useful moves which resulted in black pressuring my game. From my point of view i had to defend with my queen which resulted in losing it and losing the game. there was still time left on the clock so i wasnt in pressure of time. I just couldnt find any useful moves, and i need help with that problem :)

it threatens to involve many trades which could end up exposing black king and if black chooses to ignore the push then you can really aim to shut black down with a dominant central position
i would encourage you to watch chesscoachandras
he has a youtube channel and is an excellent teacher and one of his biggest points is “grab the center”
he has many “topics” in his playlist but “amateurs mind” is really good
alright, developing in the centre will be my next focus then. i started watching andras about a week ago and I find him very inspiring. I will definitley watch more of his videos ;)
8. B3: i wanted to develop my queenside pawns here, i shouldve known that my horse was unprotected after, luckily my opponent didnt take the advantage of that.
8. Qd2: this one looked a bit passive, i would not know what i would achieve with this in the first place, and in my point of view I would only bother the way of the darksquare bishop
Re1 sounds like a solid move, i guess i have not thought about that option, this move will line the rook up with black king and will also protect the e pawn if the bishop will get out of the way

It looks "passive"?
It develops the queen, connects the rooks, and prevents black from castling. Now compare that to your move 8.b3.
i have a question about preventing castling with Qd2, do you mean that I will have to play Bh6 (which captures blacks h pawn)?

aha, I now understand the thought of Qd2, I never used to play this move before but now i will definitely include it in my system!

Chess is about improving the placement of your pieces, and time (tempo). You always want your moves to do as many things as possible. This is why its important to always ask "why" for each move.
8.b3 "What does this move do to improve my position?
It gains space by advancing the pawn.
It protects the bishop.
What does the move do to make my position worse?
It weakens the dark squares on the queenside. Notice your a-b-c pawns are all on light squares.
It leaves the knight undefended.
Black is free to play pretty much any move he wants.
There are trade offs with every move.
8.Qd2 "What does this move do to improve my position?
It develops the queen.
It supports the DSB.
It connects the rooks.
It attacks the h6 pawn, preventing black from castling. With the lack king stuck in the middle, both white rooks can come to the d-e files.
"Are there any drawbacks to the move?"
