more generally, though, I try to force a trade when they do that if the bishop has reach across the board. If it is stuck behind pawns, you can largely ignore it if you watch pawn trades that are supported by the B. Here you might force a trade with Bg5 Nf6 maybe, develop and block, Qd2 looking to try Bh6 and trade it away. Black can defend against this for a while but if you want to trade badly enough you can usually make it happen with something along those lines.
I'm very much a beginner, but I've seen a few times when they will early on play a kingside fianchetto, and I've had some trouble responding to it. I'm wondering what some of the tactics are to respond to this.
Should I be looking to strengthen that diagonal with c3, should I fianchetto myself, should I make sure to develop my queenside rook?
