Then you'll gain experience and try to force the game into a tactical or positional game depending which you prefer

A tip, when you get to 1700-2100 focus on openings and play going through opening to the middle game.

yeah good advice here but I think playing a lot is already half the road since by playing speed chess you develop not positional / tactical but opening experience
