Breaks every now and then are good. Try playing 4 player variant during a break its fun.
should I take a a break?
Yes, definitely take a break. Forget about chess completely and only come back to it when you're ready to try again. How long that break lasts is up to you. And if worst comes to worst, there's no shame in quitting, despite what this community will lead you to believe.

All I can say is... I feel you bro.
It's hard to compete with kids too - people under the age of 20 have insane concentration ability, and also a certain childishness, along with lack of understanding of how lost they are in certain positions, which all adds up to them being able to actually turn around heroically and win from even dead lost positions, needless to even mention what happens when you slip against them in the middle game or opening...
On the other hand you have people who have been playing for years, maybe their entire life... Those are also not easy to compete with regardless of rating.
I feel this age and mentality difference can create frustration for those who started chess late...
We expect a certain pace of improvement which is based on... some fantasy... and maybe some kids lying on the forum... they say they are 2000 after 2 years of playing... Yeah sure... They are just living some lie god knows why... To tell themselves they are special.. OK.
But I do think it's part of what's cool about chess that improvement is not guaranteed. You might never improve. It's actually hard. That's part of the magic.
On the other hand, it's true that within 3-6 years with high quality coaching almost any kid can become 1800, those with talent get to master level etc...
I suggest just be at peace with the fact it's a hobby, you have a job I assume, for us adult improvers who do enjoy working at the chess and learning it deeply - still, the sky is not the limit... and it really, really does not matter.
Find your way to connect to the beauty of chess and not your expectations of yourself and enjoy your beautiful hobby. It's for your fun.
Also breaks are good why not
Now for the past two months I’ve lost 25 of my last 30 games. I only play rapid 15 min. I do puzzles and take online lessons. I study chess everyday. But my rating keeps falling and I’m starting to really dislike chess because I’m performing so poorly. Can anybody offer advice? It seems I’m just too stupid for chess. I’m seriously considering quitting for good.
