When u create an account u select r chess skill level (new, beginner, pro etc) and it gives u an elo based on that.

When I joined chess.com I started with an ELO 1600 and played quite a few games before my ELO was gradually leveled to my playing ability so why when I play a brand new player who has a brand new account and has played me as his first game of Blitz chess have a rating of 875 I don't understand how it works can someone explain this to me
