STOP playing during tilt

hello everyone, here to share a very important thing that many people will benefit from. Few days back I tilted from 1460 to 1380 and the reason for that is very stupid. from rating of 1460, I played a game and won which added 7 rating points. Then I played and lost, returning back to 1460. I thought I should play one more game to get back my 7 points which I lost. and this is where the tilt begun. I dropped to 1440, I could have stopped there, come back another day, but as you can guess that didnt happen. I fell to 1380. So, after every loss take some time, refresh your mind, analyze your loss but dont play again to regain a few elo. In doing so, best case scenario would be regaining the rating, worst case would be losing 10x more elo or more. The risk isnt worth it.

Very true. Also, getting to the point where you stop being tilted because of the losses is the best.

Good idea.its a good idea to take a break and start playing again when you arent anymore angry at having lost that rating

Maturity, but way easier said than done to actually quit for the day. Sometimes I've successfully stayed disciplined and other days I've given myself a pass to risk the rating drop.

The worst case scenario isn't that bad though. So what if you lose a load of elo, it will make later games easier and you can win it back again.

If you want to be less stressed about chess just stop bothering all that much about elo.

1460 to 1380 is a rough one. I dropped from 1510 to 1340 in a few days. I would say it started when I had a mouse slip in a M1-situation and instead I dropped the queen and lost the game. I then had a really tough time getting that game out of my head but stubborn as I am I tried to power through it. Bad idea. So now I am trying to get back on track again. Maybe I will reach 1500 some time in the future.

But you are right. I should've stopped playing and take a break for a few days or so.

What about quit while you're ahead?

#9 dont worry. after some time you get what you deserve. I am regaining my rating and is currently 1435, it will only take me 3 victories to get back to 1460. If you have crossed 1500 elo then you surely are better than 1300s. Just take a break of one or two days and you will smoothly sail to 1450 for sure.
