Studying vs. playing

So here’s the deal. I live a very busy life, work, etc… My plan is to study and read chess books, which I enjoy, during the week and play during the weekends. Anything wrong with that, if I want to improve?

Nothing wrong. Why would there be ?

Just wonder if it would be conducive to improving my rating.

It is legal to consult, books, opening explorers and other passive information resources while playing a daily game (i.e., so-called 'correspondence' chess). It is illegal however to use chess computers/engines to calculate moves or to consult with another human during any game format in progress, including daily/correspondence games.
