I can tell from your games that you are having trouble in the opening a lot. You have to sit down and really study at least 20 moves into your fav openings.

I never studied chess in any way...just played with others like me...It's easy to spot a beginner in my games, but my idea is completely different, which is that the automatic pairing system is made so that it's very hard to get on top even if you're very good at chess .It's the same system you have in a Casino .

I actually disagree with that. Most of the time when a lower rated player meets a slightly higher rated one, the one with the higher rating loses because they take the win for granted. Happened to me a bunch of times either way.

I think you know to calculate simple probabilistics based on the statistics given by chess.com...i wasn't talking about human competences at playing chess,  but simple mathematics, or why you can lose a lot of time without getting anywhere...

firstsecon, you are not on a poker site or a casino, even if you factor in losses to unscrupulous players your rating should eventually reflect your playing strength more or less accurately. I was rated 1650 standard a few months back, in the last thirty days I have lost 108 ratings points and have gone below 1500, the reason for the decline cannot be blamed on external factors, the decline is the result of playing like a donkey and blundering pieces and also ruining won positions on a regular basis. I used to be quite a bit higher rated as a chess player until I quit playing for ten years but I was higher rated because I had time to work on my chess, now I don't really have the time and I know my rating is pretty accurate for my current level of play. The main point is that ratings can fluctuate a lot for various reasons and the only way you will reach an optimal rating is to work very hard on studying the game and with chess being a game of complete information there really is not that much luck to worry about.

I looked into your last game and i couldn't undestand how you won that game... Could you explain that a bit to me?  https://www.chess.com/live/game/5019449842?username=princess_san

It was a 3+0 game, he played for a win on time and he got it.

well i don't think i understand that,,, but judging only by the game he lost big time...

His opponent's clock hit zero.

You are getting a bit confrontational now.

This is not about me, let's focus on you, please. I play on a slightly different level.

When your opponent only has like 4 seconds left you want to end it quickly in 3min Blitz, moreover I was winning that game until I played for time.

Play slower games if you don't want to get flagged

You play 3+0, you have to expect people to try and flag you

Princess_San

That's part of 3min of course, but I only do it when I was already winning and want to finish quickly so the next game starts. I resign a lost game.

Typewriter you are a Blitz player yourself you should know.

How do you guys avoid getting demotivated by seeing the rating drop from losses? I’m trying to play more unrated games but now I feel bad that my blitz rating is so low and I’m not working to fix it! I’ve played maybe about 10 blitz games, and ended up resigning from every one since it was an inevitable loss, only winning one.

BTW i am going through lessons to “relearn” the game and hopefully pick up some new tactics since I mainly learned in elementary school

how should i know my rating was 940 and then it dropped to  802

Ok...sorry...it's not about me either...

So i tried this last game to play a little tiny bit like you, by moving a lot in the opening and i got into a clinch from which  i was simply lucky to get out ...That is why i try to disolve the table as quickly as possible so that i have less combinations to think of...When the opponent asked for a rematch i thought : No way...it was a nightmare to get out of your claws happy.png https://www.chess.com/live/game/5056244764

in order to win on time you have to

  • play games faster than 10+0
  • actually be good at speed chess
darkunorthodox88

keep grinding and train yourself not to autopilot. Thats a big one. Review every game you play with a stronger player and/or an engine. Do good tactic puzzles .

a week of this and you should be climbing back up. Chess is weird in that the areas of visual pattern recognition temporarily disintegrate quite quickly but the long term pattern recognition is really hard to erode. positional chess is like muscle mass and calculation/concentration/tactics is cardiovascular fitness.

losing to people using engines ruins my gaming experience,

ppl that play at an immense level , multiple forks never ending skewers and discoveries attacks....

When the site itself is cheating with the pairing system you can't expect its users to be fair...if i want to lose all the momentum i simply play with the computer at its highest and hardest 10th level...is there any human player that can beat that machine running on chess.com? Once you're playing on a multitasking machine , your opponent can use anything to kill your pleasure...If they use their machines to later claim they're grand masters based on a huge level they aquire this way, learning chess to play here becomes pointless. in itself..

The site is not cheating using the pairing system. The only reason you can't raise your rating is because you are having a bad day. Then when you have a good day, you say that it was rigged.
