Tactics Training Suggestion

So I began studying chess somewhat seriously in the last month and a half, and have am wondering if it would be better to do tactics puzzles with all types of situations thrown together, or if like the generally suggested study order if I should focus my puzzles on studies I am currently undertaking. For example, start with endgame study and tactics, then move to middlegame study and tactics.

My name is Lauren Goodkind and I'm a chess teacher based in the San Francisco bay area.

I think you need to find what works for you.  I think most people, including me studied specific categories of tactics regardless what stage the game is.  This includes: fork, double attack, skewer, pin, and more.

One tip to develop tactics: pay attention to what pieces are on the same line as your king and queen.  Also what pieces are on the same line as your opponent's king and queen.  Always consider all checks and captures.

I created many puzzles that help you with tactics.  I invite you to solve puzzles on my website: https://www.chessbylauren.com/two-choice-puzzles.php.

  I hope that this helps.
