Timeout win explained

Once my opponent ended his time, it was a draw. Twice I have end time before my opponent, I’ve lost, although I captured more pieces.

can someone explain when the timeout is a win or a draw?

It depends on if the side with time has sufficient material for mate, based on the material counts the site is using.
